I was pretty thrilled when Edan reached out and told me about her senior portrait ideas. She wanted to incorporate two absolutely gorgeous locations into her session—the magnificent California Redwoods and the Oregon coast—and I was 100% on board!

I’ve always been a sucker for the beach, and the Oregon coast is such an incredible place for senior portraits. The combination of driftwood, sand, ocean waves, and that soft evening light makes for some seriously dreamy images.

And that light! 😍

There’s something about photographing on the coast around sunset when everything gets that soft, warm glow. It makes the whole session feel a little magical.

Edan was such a sweetheart and an absolute joy to photograph. She was also so much fun to work with because she brought creative, unique outfits that felt completely true to her personality. I LOVE when seniors use their session as an opportunity to show off who they are rather than trying to fit into a particular idea of what senior pictures are “supposed” to look like.

Edan was also totally up for changing things up throughout her session. She started with her hair long and wavy, then switched it up midway through by pinning it into two adorable top knots. I loved that she wasn’t afraid to play around and create completely different looks during her session!

We had so much fun exploring, playing with the light, and making the most of this beautiful stretch of the Oregon coast. And yes, I will always stand by this statement:

Photos on the beach are ALWAYS a good idea. 😉

I absolutely adored getting to capture these portraits for Edan as she celebrates her senior year. Senior portrait season is one of my favorite times of year, and sessions like this are exactly why.
