If you’re ever on the fence about bringing your dog to your family session, DO IT. They make sessions so much more fun, playful, and full of personality. And c’mon… they’re family too! πΎ
This Mt. Ashland winter family session was the perfect example.
Rosie, the family’s beautiful Golden Doodle, clearly stole the show. Her gorgeous copper-colored fur looked absolutely stunning against the fresh white snow. She was basically born to model in a winter wonderland!
This sweet family of four β two parents, two teenagers, and one very photogenic pup β came ready to have some fun in the snow. And that’s exactly what we did.
There was plenty of playing, laughing, exploring, and, of course, lots of Rosie. I love when family sessions aren’t about everyone standing perfectly still and smiling at the camera. Instead, we let everyone interact, move around, and enjoy being together.
And having a dog along makes that even easier.
Dogs bring out a different kind of energy. They get everyone moving, laughing, and interacting naturally, and some of my favorite images often happen in between the more traditional portraits.
Plus, just look at Rosie in that snow! That copper coat against all that white was perfection.
Mt. Ashland is one of my favorite places for winter family photography in Southern Oregon. The snowy trees, mountain scenery, and beautiful winter light create such an incredible backdrop, but it’s the people β and sometimes their dogs β that make each session unique.
So if you’re wondering whether you should bring your pup to your next family session, here’s your sign:
Bring. The. Dog.
They’ll probably steal the show anyway. π
