Family Photography along the river in Gold Hill

This playful, energetic family is always such a blast to photograph! I’ve had the pleasure of photographing them a few times over the years, and every session is a little different as these sweet girls grow and their personalities get bigger.

And let me tell you… these three girls have ENERGY.

There were giggles, running, silliness, snuggles, and plenty of completely unplanned moments that ended up being some of my favorite photos. They are the kind of kids who don’t really want to sit still for a traditional family portrait—and honestly, I don’t want them to!

Give me the running, the laughing, the goofy faces, and the chaos.

For this session, we headed to the river in Gold Hill, which was the perfect setting for their adventurous little crew. The natural surroundings gave the girls plenty of room to explore, play, and be themselves, while the river and trees created a beautiful Southern Oregon backdrop.

And their family dynamic? So much fun to capture.

Dad is apparently the official giggle generator, because he had those girls laughing nonstop. Mom is the resident snuggle expert, making sure there were plenty of hugs and cuddles mixed in with all the chaos. And those little moments between them—the girls climbing on their parents, running back for a quick hug, laughing together, and simply being a family—are exactly what makes these sessions so special.

I love photographing families in a way that actually feels like their family.

Instead of asking everyone to stand perfectly still and smile at the camera for an hour, I want you to interact. Play. Chase your kids. Snuggle them. Let Dad make everyone laugh. Let the girls run wild. The real magic usually happens in those in-between moments.

And these three gave us plenty of magic.

Because I’ve photographed this family before, it’s also really fun to see how much the girls have grown and how their personalities continue to shine. There is something pretty special about being invited back again and again to document those changes.
