This was such a sweet engagement session! And obviously, I was VERY happy when Olivia and Kyle brought their dog along. You know I will never say no to a pup joining the fun.

And this dog was HUGE! But such a gentle giant. Seriously, the sweetest, most lovable big floof, and I was completely obsessed. I absolutely love when couples include their dogs in engagement photos because they’re such an important part of the family. These are memories of this season of life, and your four-legged family members deserve to be in them too!

For their engagement session, we headed up to Mt. Ashland, which is one of my favorite Southern Oregon locations for portraits. The scenery is beautiful and gives us so much variety without having to go far. There are gorgeous trees, rocky areas, open views, and all kinds of natural textures that make the perfect backdrop for adventurous engagement photos.

And then the sunset light showed up and completely understood the assignment.

That golden evening glow was SO good. There’s something magical about photographing couples in that last bit of sunlight, especially in the mountains. Everything gets soft and warm, and the whole landscape feels a little extra dreamy.

On a clear day, you can even catch views of Mt. Shasta from Mt. Ashland, which is pretty spectacular. Between the mountain views, rocky landscapes, trees, and gorgeous evening light, it’s hard to ask for a better Southern Oregon engagement session backdrop.

Olivia and Kyle were so sweet together and completely comfortable in front of the camera. We got plenty of romantic moments, playful interactions, and, of course, lots of adorable photos with their giant gentle pup.

I always want engagement sessions to feel like an adventure rather than a formal photo shoot. Wander around, cuddle, laugh, explore, bring the dog, stop for a beautiful view… let’s just have fun together and let the photos happen naturally.

And I think we did exactly that with these two.
