There is something SO special about getting to photograph a surprise proposal, and Baraa and Teala’s evening at Crater Lake was one of those moments that reminds me why I love what I do. 🤍

Baraa reached out to me with a plan to make this moment extra special for Teala, and I was so excited to be a tiny part of their love story! These two met several years ago and have been navigating a long-distance relationship, making this next chapter together even sweeter. When you’ve spent so much time loving someone from afar, getting to take that next step and plan a future together is a pretty incredible thing.

And the best part? Teala had absolutely no idea what was coming!

We met at sunset at one of my favorite little spots at Crater Lake National Park. If you’ve followed my work for a while, you probably know how much I love photographing couples in places that feel a little wild and a little magical. This particular area has EVERYTHING I could ask for: gorgeous rock formations, beautiful water views, and trees that create the dreamiest natural backdrops. It’s one of those places where I could happily photograph couples all evening long.

The setting was quiet, romantic, and absolutely lovely. As the sun began to set, Baraa got ready to pop the question, and I was there to capture the moment it all unfolded. There is something so touching about witnessing a proposal when one person has put so much thought into creating a moment the other will remember forever.

And knowing that I got to preserve this memory for them? That’s the good stuff.

After the big question, we spent a little time capturing portraits of the two of them together, soaking in that gorgeous scenery and celebrating this exciting new chapter. The pressure of keeping a secret was over, and now they could simply enjoy being together in one of the most beautiful places in Oregon.

Crater Lake is such an incredible place for a surprise proposal. Between the dramatic rock formations, deep blue water, forest backdrops, and dreamy evening light, it offers so much variety without needing to travel far between locations. If you’re dreaming of proposing somewhere scenic, intimate, and a little adventurous, it’s hard to beat.
