Lexi’s senior session on this beautiful Big Springs ranch was SO much fun!

It was a windy day, but honestly, I’m pretty sure the wind was working in our favor. Lexi’s hair was flowing beautifully in the breeze, and combined with that gorgeous evening light, we got some seriously dreamy senior portraits.

If you’ve never spent much time around Big Springs in Siskiyou County, it’s definitely ranch country.

Think wide-open fields, irrigation lines, rustic barns, old gates, weathered fences, tractors, and beautiful views stretching out in every direction. It’s the kind of landscape that gives a senior session a completely different feel from a traditional portrait location.

We took full advantage of it.

We wandered through the fields, photographed around the barns and rustic fencing, incorporated some of the ranch equipment, and found plenty of little details that made the session feel authentic to the location.

And then there were the baby kittens. 🥹

Because obviously, if there are tiny kittens on a ranch, we’re taking pictures with them!

The evening light was absolutely beautiful as the sun started getting lower, giving the fields that warm golden glow that makes sunset senior portraits so magical.

I also loved how much variety we were able to get without ever leaving the ranch. The irrigation lines, wide-open fields, barns, gates, broken-down fencing, and tractors each gave us a completely different backdrop while still keeping the whole session cohesive.

Lexi is such a beauty, and she was a joy to photograph. Her session felt relaxed, natural, and completely at home in this beautiful Siskiyou County landscape.

Big Springs is such a fun location for senior portraits if you love a more rustic, country-inspired look. Give me a ranch, some golden light, a little wind, and an awesome senior, and I’m a happy photographer. 😉
