When Randa reached out about wanting some epic Siskiyou County backdrops for her and Ian’s engagement session, I was just a tiny bit excited. McCloud Falls was the perfect setting for a waterfall engagement.

I had been wanting to photograph a couple at McCloud Falls for quite some time, so when they were totally on board with the location, I was thrilled. There is something so magical about photographing couples in wild, beautiful places, and Siskiyou County has no shortage of incredible scenery.

We planned a morning session to beat the summer heat, and it turned out to be the perfect choice. The light was beautiful, the locations were peaceful, and we got to enjoy exploring without the crowds.

And the best surprise?

They brought along their sweet little dog, Rupert! 🐾

Obviously, I was very happy about this. I will always cheer for couples who include their pets in their sessions. They are such an important part of life, and having them included makes the photos even more meaningful.

We started the adventure at a gorgeous location with incredible views of Mt. Shasta, which was the perfect way to begin. The mountain views, open landscape, and beautiful surroundings made such a stunning backdrop for their portraits.

Then we made our way to the grand finale…

McCloud Falls.

And wow.

Waterfalls are always amazing, but McCloud Falls is truly something special. The turquoise water, dramatic rocks, lush greenery, and rushing falls create such a breathtaking setting. It was the perfect place to capture the adventurous, playful side of Randa and Ian’s relationship.

And speaking of their relationship…

These two have such a sweet story.

They actually met way back in kindergarten and then reconnected later in life. I love stories like that, the kind where life brings two people back together at exactly the right time.

Randa and Ian were so much fun to photograph. They were relaxed, affectionate, and completely comfortable together. They laughed, snuggled, explored, and made my job ridiculously easy.

I love when couples aren’t afraid to embrace the experience instead of worrying about being “perfect” in front of the camera. The best images usually come from the little moments, the laughs, the movement, the quiet glances, and the way two people naturally interact.

Siskiyou County is seriously a dream for adventurous couples sessions, and I had such a blast exploring these locations with Randa and Ian.
