This adorable family was such a joy to photograph! We spent the afternoon wandering around historic downtown Jacksonville, soaking up all the fall colors, finding fun little backdrops, and letting the kids do what kids do best, explore, play, and be silly.

And then we ended the whole thing with ice cream cones.

Honestly, what a perfect way to finish a family photo session. 🍦

Their little boy and girl were so much fun to photograph, and their tiny pup came along for the adventure too. I’m always a fan of including the whole family, furry members included!

And can we talk about their outfits?!

The styling for this session was so good. Their colors, patterns, and textures worked beautifully together without looking overly matched. And the little girl’s orange velvet dress? Absolute perfection for a fall session. The warm color looked gorgeous against the autumn leaves and historic downtown Jacksonville backdrop.

I always love when families put a little thought into their outfits, and this crew absolutely nailed it. The mix of textures and patterns gave the photos so much visual interest while still feeling natural and cohesive.

But as usual, some of my favorite moments happened when we stopped worrying about getting the “perfect” family picture and just let everyone play.

The kids tossed fall leaves into the air, laughed, ran around, and picked out their favorite leaves to carry with them as we wandered through town. Those little details are the kinds of moments I love capturing because they’re genuine pieces of childhood.

And of course, there were plenty of sweet family moments mixed in—snuggles, smiles, holding hands, and all those little interactions that show how much these people love each other.

I love using downtown Jacksonville for family sessions because there is so much variety packed into a small area. We can get historic buildings, brick, colorful textures, pretty sidewalks, fall foliage, and then just wander around together without making the session feel like we’re constantly moving from one photo spot to another.

It becomes more like a fun afternoon together—with a camera tagging along.

And ending with ice cream?

10/10. Highly recommend.
