The moment I sat down for a consult with Doug and Calvin, I knew these were my kind of people. They were warm, kind, funny, and so easy to connect with. I remember leaving that meeting thinking, Yep. I really hope they choose me.

So I was absolutely pumped when they asked me to photograph their wedding in downtown Ashland.

And also…

Can we talk about how ridiculously well-dressed gay men are?!

GOODNESS.

Doug and Calvin showed up with STYLE, and I was here for every bit of it. Their wedding-day looks were polished, unique, and completely fabulous. These two clearly know how to put an outfit together, and naturally, I had a fantastic time photographing them.

Their ceremony was held at the Cabaret Theatre in downtown Ashland, which made the location especially meaningful because Calvin used to perform there. I absolutely love when a couple chooses a wedding location that has a personal connection to their story. It wasn’t just a beautiful place to get married—it was a little piece of Calvin’s history becoming part of their next chapter together.

After the ceremony, we wandered around downtown Ashland for newlywed portraits. This is one of my favorite ways to photograph couples after their ceremony. Instead of staying tucked away at a venue, we got to explore, interact with the town, find cool textures and backdrops, and just enjoy being newly married.

And these two?

SO MUCH JOY.

I am ridiculously drawn to people who are full of joy and love, and Doug and Calvin were overflowing with both. Their connection was playful, affectionate, and completely genuine. There were laughs, sweet glances, big smiles, and plenty of those gooey little moments that make me want to keep clicking the shutter.

Their love is BIG.

The kind of love that takes up space. The kind that makes you smile just by watching it. The kind where you can tell these two genuinely like each other in addition to being completely in love.

And that is one of my favorite things to photograph.

I don’t want to just capture what a couple looks like together. I want to capture what it feels like to be around them. Doug and Calvin made that ridiculously easy.

They have style. They have humor. They have warmth. They have a whole lot of love for each other.

And, apparently, they also have a talent for making their photographer ridiculously happy.

Doug and Calvin, I am so grateful you found me and trusted me to document such an important day. I will absolutely never forget your epic, gooey, joyful love.
