Can I just say how much I adore happy people!?

Julianah + JT were SO much fun to photograph. These two were playful, goofy, affectionate, and completely comfortable being themselves together, basically everything I love about photographing couples.

They were visiting their hometown in Northern California and had traveled all the way from Texas. Since they were hoping for a snowy couples session while they were here, we headed up to Mt. Ashland hoping for a little winter magic.

And boy, did they get snow.

It was practically a blizzard on the mountain, and it was LOVELY.

The snow was coming down around us, collecting in their hair and on their clothes, and creating the dreamiest winter atmosphere. Their snow-covered hair might honestly be one of my favorite details from the entire session. It made everything feel a little more magical and a little more wild.

And these two were completely into it.

They laughed, played, snuggled, danced around, and soaked up every second of their snowy adventure. Those are the sessions I live for, when a couple can forget about the camera and just have fun together.

Your Outfit Choices Matter

I talk about this all the time, but what you wear really can make a huge difference in your photos.

Julianah + JT absolutely nailed their outfit choices.

Their warm, earthy color palette looked incredible against the cool white snow. Instead of blending into the winter landscape, their clothing added warmth and dimension to the images while still feeling completely natural.

And then there was the blanket.

The cozy blanket matched their outfits.

That was no accident. 😉

It’s those little details that can pull an entire session together. When you’re choosing outfits for your couples session, think about the location, the season, and the colors you’ll be surrounded by. You don’t have to match your partner, but choosing colors that complement each other, and the environment, can make your images feel beautifully cohesive.

And honestly, a cozy blanket on a snowy mountain? Always a yes from me.

I’ve been loving snow sessions SO much this year. There’s something about photographing couples in the middle of a snowstorm that feels completely different from a typical portrait session. It’s romantic, adventurous, a little unpredictable, and incredibly beautiful.

If you’re looking for a winter couples photographer in Southern Oregon, Mt. Ashland is pretty hard to beat.

Just bring someone you love, dress for the weather, and maybe cross your fingers for a blizzard. 😉
