I love when people are willing to embrace whatever weather shows up for their session. 🌧️

So many people see rain in the forecast and immediately want to reschedule, but honestly? Some of my favorite images happen when the weather is a little unpredictable.

Rain, wind, fog, snow… those elements can add so much emotion and atmosphere to a photo session. And Kholea and John’s maternity session is the perfect example.

It was a dreary, rainy day in the Rogue Valley, but these two were completely up for the adventure. Instead of worrying about the weather, they leaned into it—and I am SO happy they did because the images turned out absolutely dreamy.

Kholea is such a stunning mama-to-be. She brought such a beautiful, calm energy to the session, and the rainy setting created the perfect moody backdrop for celebrating this season of life.

One of my favorite details from the session was her clear umbrella covered in little rain drops. It added such a beautiful, whimsical touch and fit the atmosphere perfectly. The soft reflections, cloudy skies, and gentle rain made everything feel romantic and a little magical.

We captured a mix of maternity portraits, including beautiful dress images and more intimate bare belly photos that celebrated her growing baby bump.

And can we talk about cloudy weather and black-and-white images?

They just work.

There is something about overcast skies that creates such beautiful contrast and emotion, and black-and-white photos can really highlight the connection and feeling of the moment. The textures of the rain, the movement, and the quiet intimacy of the session all came through beautifully.

I love that Kholea and John trusted the process and embraced the unexpected. Sometimes the weather we think might “ruin” a session is actually the thing that makes it unforgettable.

This session was proof that you don’t need perfect sunshine for beautiful photos.
