Some love stories take you places—and Noah and Abigail’s love story has literally taken them across the country! Their dreamy sunset engagement on the beaches of Oahu was STUNNING.
These two are college sweethearts, and their story began back in Washington. After college, they packed up and moved to Oahu, where they’ve been making a life together surrounded by sunshine, ocean views, and plenty of island adventures. Now they’re bringing their story back to Oregon for their Southern Oregon wedding this summer, and I could not be more excited for them!
When I found out I would be on Oahu, there was no way I was going to pass up the opportunity to photograph these two in their island home. We made plans to spend an evening exploring the beach, soaking up that gorgeous Hawaii scenery, and, of course, taking some photos along the way.
And what an evening it was.
Noah and Abigail were kind enough to introduce us to some absolutely delicious island food and treats (because apparently taking photos in Hawaii also requires a snack tour, and I am very much on board with that). After filling up on some local goodness, we headed toward the beach and spent the evening wandering along the shoreline as the sun started to dip.
These two are so deeply kind, and their playful, easygoing love made them incredibly fun to photograph. There was plenty of laughing, teasing, cuddling, and those little in-between moments that happen when two people are completely comfortable together. Nothing felt forced, and I honestly could have photographed them all evening.
And can we talk about Abigail’s gorgeous red hair?! Because WOW. Against the lush Hawaiian greenery and those beautiful beach tones, it was absolutely stunning. Hawaii was already doing the heavy lifting with the scenery, but she somehow managed to make the whole setting even prettier.
One of my favorite things about being a photographer is getting to step outside of my everyday scenery and document people in places that are meaningful to them. As much as I adore Southern Oregon—and believe me, I do—it was SO much fun to photograph somewhere completely different. The tropical greenery, warm evening air, ocean, and golden light made this session feel like a total adventure.
I left this session with a very full heart, a camera full of gorgeous images, and a new appreciation for how lucky I am that this job gets to take me to places like Hawaii. Not a bad office for the evening, if you ask me.
